Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz has said that Poland is today one of those countries that have the greatest trust of the US, since it is entrusted with American technologies.

On Monday Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz and Secretary of State Pawel Bejda attended the signing of the agreement between the Polish defence contractor Huta Stalowa Wola and Raytheon, an American arms manufacturer, for the production of 48 type M903 rocket launchers.

While at the ceremony, he said that in his view, what allowed Poland and the US to strike this deal was a good relationship between the two countries.

"Today, Poland is one of those countries... that has the most trust from the United States because you (the US - PAP) are sharing your technologies with us."

In this context, Kosiniak-Kamysz recalled the contract for IBCS, a state-of-the-art air and missile defence command system, which Poland was able to acquire from the US. "Poland was then the first and only country, apart from the United States, to have access to this," he said.

At the same time, he announced that the contract for 48 M903 launchers is for USD 1.23 billion. "This is the kind of investment we need," he said.

He added that national security has been the priority of the current coalition government since it took over in December 2023.

"There is no issue more important... than security," he said. "All our efforts since we took power have been directed towards rebuilding the community, building a strong army and strengthening us in terms of alliances." (PAP)
